We had a successful annual general meeting (AGM) last night (12/09/2011) at Muse Restaurant in the Anchorage Museum. About 25 members and friends were in attendance. As usual, the appetizers provided by Muse were excellent. We thank Gary Max at Sitelines for his generous sponsorship of the event and the tasty food!
Presentations were made by several members:
- Terry Schoenthal updated us on his continuting efforts in crafting edits to the provisionally adopted Title 21 landscape code.
- Laura Minski and Nancy Casey discussed the Garden Design Workshop's (GDW) status. Generally the discussion was intened to gather thoughts about the future of the GDW and how funds raised by it should be used now that the goal of a self sustaining scholarship fund has been reached. Discussion included the possiblity of hosting a GDW in Kenai and Juneau in 2012. Please contact Laura Minski or Nancy Casey if you have ideas or interest in helping with the 2012 GDW.
- Jonny Hayes updated us on his and other members generous and impressive outreach efforts to young Alaskan students.
Thank you Chris Mertl for 15 consecutive years of serving on the executive board! The 2011-2012 board welcomes new members Michele Elfers, Melisa Kennedy-Babb, Kim Graham and Brent Hove. The board looks forward to serving membership over the next year. Stay tuned for upcoming continuing education opportunities and chapter events.
