2019 Legislative Site Tours and Landscape Architecture Celebration

This map, courtesy of ASLA National, shows chapters who have committed to a site tour (in red). You can sign the Site Tour Pledge today and commit to fulfill ASLA’s mission of advancing landscape architecture and its state and federal advocacy priorities.

This year ASLA National put out a call to action that encouraged each chapter to invite legislators on a site tour to help demonstrate the important work that Landscape Architects are doing in their communities. The map above, highlighted on National's Advocacy page, shows the states in Red that signed the pledge to participate in this call to action.

In response to this the ASLA AK chapter partnered with a local engineering firm, CRW, and was able to provide CEU opportunities and site tours of three different projects in Anchorage, Alaska. This event was also helped by a sponsorship from Exerplay, who donated funds to offset the costs for food to help draw a range of people to the event!

We were able to connect with former assembly member, former mayor and current member of the Alaska House of Representatives, Matt Claman, as well as local assembly member Forest Dunbar during these site tours and share more about Landscape Architecture and its impacts in Alaska!
